Frère Jérôme
(1902 - 1994)
Frère Jérôme is linked to the history of contemporary art in Quebec, having rubbed shoulders with Paul-Émile Borduas , Fernand Leduc , Jean-Paul Mousseau and Claude Vermette both as students and as colleagues.
From the age of 12, he entered the community of the Sainte-Croix congregation to take the habit there. On August 15, 1918 he became known as Brother Jérôme. Jérôme continued his education at the École des Beaux-Arts in Montreal in 1935 before taking a teaching position at Notre-Dame College, where he taught for over 70 years.
