Evergon Biography
(1946-)
Evergon is a contemporary Canadian photographer known for experimenting with various forms of photo manipulation to explore sexuality, culture and the body. Evergon has worked with Polaroid and manipulated cyanotype, gum bichromate, photo collages, holograms, and xerography throughout his career. He graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1974 with a Master's in Fine Arts. Over the course of his undergraduate degree at Mount Alison University, Evergon was part of a group of artists reacting to post-war photography. In his work, he often uses art historical references to question the validity of artistic merit. Evergon has taught at Concordia University in Montreal since 1999. His work is featured in many public collections across Canada.
