Tom Hunter is a British artist based in London working primarily in photography and film. His work often involves reimagining iconic and classical paintings, blending historical art with contemporary narratives. Hunter studied at the London College of Printing and later earned a Master's from the Royal College of Art in London. He gained significant recognition as the first photographer to have a solo exhibition at the National Gallery in London. Hunter's work has been displayed in prominent institutions worldwide, including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Smithsonian Institution, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Moderna Museet, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Tate Modern.

Known for his reinterpretation of classical works, one of his most famous pieces is a photographic reference to Johannes Vermeer's "Girl Reading a Letter at an Open Window". This photograph earned him the prestigious Kobal Photographic Portrait Award in 1998. Throughout his career, Hunter has received numerous accolades, including an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Photographic Society, cementing his place as a leading figure in contemporary photography.
