Born in 1941 in Montreal, Rick McCarthy is a contemporary Canadian artist. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art in 1963, his artistic career spans from the postwar era to today. His primary and favourite subject is the human figure, and is known for a wide range of representations within this theme, ranging from Renaissance-like portraits to loosely figurative abstraction. Rick works in a variety of mediums, and has over the years produced a number of mixed media paintings, prints and drawings. He has shown his work in major cities in Canada and the United States and is in a number of collections, both private and public.
