Gordon H. Coster
(1906-1988)
Gordon H. Coster was an American commercial photographer based in Chicago for the majority of his career. He began his career in New York, working for Underwood & Underwood studio, where he created advertisements for various clients. During the Second World War, Coster shifted his artistic focus to photojournalism, capturing moments and movements about labour and civil rights issues. He freelanced for several magazines, including Time, Life Magazine, Fortune, and Ladies Home Journal. Coster taught at the Institute of Design in Chicago during the 1960s.
