Victor Cicansky (Czekanski) was born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan. He was a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan (B.Ed. 1964), the University of Regina (B.A. 1965), and the University of California at Davis (M.F.A. 1970). He also studied at Haystack Mountain School of Art at Deere Isle, Maine. The artist taught at the University of Regina for over 20 years, the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, the University of California at Davis, and the Banff School of Fine Arts. He was the recipient of many Canada Council grants and awards including the Victoria and Albert Award for Ceramic Sculpture, the California Kingsley Annual Award for Sculpture, and the Saskatchewan Order of Merit. Cicansky had many solo and group exhibitions across Canada, the United States, Japan, and Europe. He was represented in many major public and private collections including the Saskatchewan Arts Board and the National Gallery of Canada. Victor worked and resided in Regina, Saskatchewan.
