Roger Mayne was a British photographer who began his studies in chemistry before experimenting with photography. In 1954, he moved to London as a freelance photographer, capturing what the urban landscape offered him in the way of markets and street scenes. In the years that followed, Mayne was active in photojournalism. He worked on commissions, appearing in publications such as Vogue, Observer, Sun Times, and Queen. Additionally, Mayne photographed a selection of Royal Court plays as well as community performances. His work has taken him all over the world, photographing landscapes and urban scenes in Paris, Iceland, Spain, and Egypt.
