David Seaton Smith was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1901. He worked in New York as a commercial artist for the George Blummer Studios. In the mid 1930's he moved to Toronto, and during the 1940's and 1950's was a partner in "The Art Associates Limited", a graphic art studio. Several of his works are in the collection of the Toronto Historical Board.
