Both Frances Loring and Florence Wyle created sculptural reliefs of birds for the Oakes Garden Theatre in Niagara Falls, which opened in 1937. Along with this plaster of a Canada Goose in flight, Loring created reliefs of an owl and pigeons. The reliefs were included in the Sculptor's Society of Canada 1938 exhibition at the Art Gallery of Toronto (now the Art Gallery of Ontario).
