Annie Leibovitz is a world-renowned photographer best known for her celebrity portraits and work for various popular American magazines. Her journey in photography officially began in 1967 when she enrolled at the San Francisco Art Institute. Initially, Leibovitz majored in painting before discovering her passion for photography.
In the 1970s, she worked on commission for Rolling Stone magazine during its early years, and at just twenty-three, she became their chief photographer. She presented her work to the magazine while still a student at the San Francisco Art Institute. She also captured significant moments and figures in American politics during this decade. In 1983, Leibovitz began working for Vanity Fair magazine, where she continued to photograph top A-list celebrities in innovative ways. Leibovitz currently lives and works in New York City.
