Laura Muntz Lyall painted “Coastal Scene, Sunset” on a trip to Europe in 1921 when she visited Devon in Great Britain. Some of the works she did there are small oil sketches of seascapes – this larger canvas combines a seascape with a sunset to create a coastal scene with rich colour. Paul Duval kept this work in his personal collection.
