The Myths Series was presented for the first time at Ronald Feldman Fine Arts in New York at a public opening on Saturday, September 12th, 1981. Here is a excerpt from the original Press Release the gallery issued September 1st, 1981:

“The myths Warhol presents are well known. Their roots are in ancient beliefs, folklore, allegorical tales and are based on traditional stories and media creations. They represent fantasies, dreams, hopes and fears.”

“Howdy Doody” is based on Warhol’s own photograph of the original Howdy Doody.
