An artist, teacher and activist Evergon was born Albert Jay Lust in Niagara Falls in 1946. He also goes by a series of alter egos: Celluloso Evergoni, Egon Brut, and Eve R. Gonzales. The Ramboys: A Bookless Novel is an ongoing series that was begun in 1991 and comprises several hundred images. Related to the myths of Pan, Dionysus, and the satyrs, Evergon drew inspiration from the gay cruising ground along the waterfront in Chicago.

From a part of the series depicting the Ramboys in dynamic poses making shadow puppets in front of a projected landscape, the artist continues playfully exploring the earlier themes of audacious pleasure and seduction. The series was begun in colour but soon changed to large format polaroid photographs in black and white.
