Claude A. Simard
(1943 - 2014) R.C.A., A.O.C.A.

Claude A. Simard was born in Quebec City on July 9th, 1943. Until his retirement, he was the Art Faculty Secretary and a professor at Laval University

He studied graphic design from 1962 to 1966 at the Ontario College of Art in Toronto.

In the summer of ‘65 he served as an apprentice with the British Motor’s Corporations’ graphic design department in Birmingham England. He traveled through Switzerland and France in 1969 through Denmark and Germany in 1971. In the spring of ‘77 he attended the Icograda Congress in Zurich as Laval University’s representative.

Simard was predominantly involved in Graphic Design from 1966 to 1983. He was head of Communications and Design of Simons in Quebec City from 1966 to 1973. He founded the Communikart design group in 1973. He was head designer for the group until 1984.
