The consignor of the artwork worked closely with Joyce Wieland through the 1970s, assisting with multiple projects and co-produced the artist’s 1976 film, “The Far Shore”.
She recalls the artist’s love of classical music and, above all, the music of Mozart. The portrait hung in Wieland’s studio, the painter liking to have the composer “close by” as she worked.
Following Wieland’s passing, the consignor acquired this artwork directly from the estate of the artist.
