Marcel Fecteau
(1927)

Born in Montreal, he did his first sketches at the age of 14, when working in a northern Ontario lumber camp. Returning to Montreal, he continued with his artistic development and began sculpting. Later, he decided to enter the field of commercial art and formed his own company specializing in designing and making signs. In 1969, he began serious easel painting. In April of 1972, he held his first solo show at Galerie Gauvreau (later Galerie Bernard Desroches). He became known for his colorful Quebec village scenes, which delighted gallery goers. In his scenes of rural Quebec, there is always something interesting – country folk, winding roads, subtly coloured fields, hills, clouds and skies. In each of his works he shows his skill as a superb draftsman and colourist.
