La Sovana is a hotel found in Sarteano, Tuscany. Travelling extensively throughout her life, Tuscany was a favourite painting locale for McCarthy in Europe. This watercolour was painted in 2000.
The proceeds from the sale of this artwork are for the benefit of the Amadeus Choir of Toronto. Doris McCarthy was a patron of the choir.
