In her feature on the artist and her work, Nancy Campbell notes that Saimaiyu Akesuk’s “insects are particularly spectacular; though insects are certainly an abundant Arctic creature, they are not generally seen as ‘northern,’ and are not often represented in Inuit drawings and prints.”
