George Buytendorp
(1923)
George was born in the Netherlands where he received training at the Academy of Fine Arts and Related Sciences. He followed his family’s tradition as artist and fine art restorer, working as an apprentice for five years. Following his apprenticeship, he opened his own studio in Arnheim and later in Amsterdam. In 1951 he immigrated to Canada and settled in Manitoba where he quickly began working as an artist and teacher. George's work is currently exhibited in galleries across Canada and his work can be found in numerous private and corporate collections including Peat Marwick Thorne, Kleyson Transport, Great West Life Insurance Company, and Comcheq Services. He now resides with his family in Abbotsford, BC.
