Born in Nottingham and arriving in Canada in 1909, Eric Brown (1877-1939) was the first director of the National Gallery of Canada, holding the position from 1912 until his death. A version of “Landscape, Moonlight” is part of the collection of the National Gallery of Canada in Ottawa (No. 16208).
