Literature
Patricia Morley, “Kurelek: A Biography”, Toronto, 1986, pages 241-245.
'In August 1968, Kurelek wrote to the Canada Council to apply for a travel grant, explaining that he wished to visit a missionary friend (Father Murray Abraham) near Darjeeling who operated a boys' school on principles of self-help.' The six-week trip, which took the artist to India, Africa and Hong Kong, 'would make possible a series of paintings and a film on the subject of Canadian aid to underdeveloped countries. These would, he hoped, increase public awareness of the importance of foreign aid.' The resulting work from Kurelek's travels populated his Pacem in Terris series.
