“Bay of Quinte Scenes Delight Toronto Artist”, “The Globe and Mail”, Toronto, September 17, 1947
In a 1947 profile of Manly MacDonald, “The Globe and Mail” discussed the artist's process and popularity during his painting trips, recording that MacDonald “very often has an audience of young admirers, perhaps because he is one of the few Canadian artists who paint large canvases out of doors. Mr. MacDonald feels he can get more color and atmosphere by painting on the spot and quite often finishes a picture after it has been placed in its frame.”
